COLOUR FIELD, Safi Maroc
THE CONCEPT:
The ceramic curtain "Colour field" is composed of ceramic handmade bars suspended in the void, which form at the same time, a unit of measurement and stretch towards infinity. The gradient colours of each piece evoke a fragment of landscape and horizon, referring to the idea of the visible and the invisible, of presence and absence. Indeed, Colour Field combines opposite directions: elevation and gravity, fluidity and static, emptiness and fullness, the earthly and the cosmic. With this installation the artist Johanna Baudou, questions the prevailing order and seeks a strong relationship to the spiritual. The evasive form of the installation suggests a suspended time. The work, in its silent and musical presence, invites the eye to move from the bottom to the top through the play of colours.
REALIZATION:
The installation is composed of thin ceramic bars (10 to 20 cm long - 2 cm thick). The size of the installation varies according to the location and architecture of the exhibition or space.
The ceramics are handmade and hand painted by Johanna Baudou in a workshop in Safi, Morocco.
